If you are like many patients here in Mississippi, you may have mistaken some of your symptoms for a cold or allergies. Here at MENTSA, we treat all sinus problems from simple to more complex. If you continue to have any of the following symptoms after medical therapy, it is important to see an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeon to get a proper diagnosis.

Chronic sinus symptoms can include:

  • Facial pain
  • Tenderness and swelling around the eyes, bridge of nose, and forehead
  • Chronic nasal congestion
  • Sinus pressure
  • Difficulty breathing through the nose, especially at night and upon arising
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Discolored mucus from the nose
  • Pain in teeth
  • Bad breath
  • 3 or more acute sinus infections in one year
  • Nasal polyps

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, it is important to be evaluated by one of our physicians. At your examination, our physician will listen to your history of symptoms and conduct a thorough exam. This will more than likely include the use of a nasal endoscope. This is a rigid piece of surgical equipment that has microscopes inside of it. It will be placed inside of the nasal passages, allowing our physicians to better visualize the sinus cavity. You may also be instructed to obtain a CT scan of your sinuses. This gives our physicians a clearer picture of what is causing your symptoms.
